Description

Drastic Actions/Tainada split EP (Muerte Negra Discos)
Tainada hail from NYC while Drastic Actions are Coastal Bend homeboys. Despite the miles, this record is a near perfect match of mid-80s influenced hardcore that sounds great right after Kings of Punk” (Poison Idea) and right before “Victim in Pain” (Agnostic Front). Tainada are in fact a gaggle of punk vets whose other projects include The Krays,UFC, Zombie Vandals and The Radicts. Led by lead howler Johnny Kray on six string, Tainada blast two tasty stompers that could have easily been on the “Welcome to 1984” comp.: “Chaos Reign” (which also lends its name to their side of the record) and “Sour Ground.” According to the band’s Myspace page, “Sour Ground” is inspired by the seminal 1970 classic, “Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee” by Dee Brown. Nice! For their part, DA continue to evolve from their melodic drunk-and-disorderly street punk and in the direction of early Poison Idea. While “Got Me Reaching” is defiant D.A. through and through, “Cries for Help” reads like it could be Cho Seung-Hui’s suicide letter. Musically, the band is tight and primed from countless sets across the state. Fearless Amped Up! prediction: Drastic Actions is gonna be pretty major in ’08. Only 300 copies of this EP so jump on this ASAP. Great stuff!
