Blood Harvest is re-pressing these two gems onto vinyl. And I cannot wait to spin them on such a deserved format. Bombs of Hades have a slew of splits, but this full length and the Carnivores EP solidify their titanic presence. The LP is from last year and the EP is from 2008. They both sound glorious. Raw and fevered death metal tracks are handled precisely with the appropriate touch of production. This is not the clean slick production many bands turned to recently. While they are talented and harness many metal skills, the overall delivery of crushing destruction is the focus.
Let’s forget all the multi-syllabic adjectives and synonyms. Three words describe this release; heavy, fast, and evil. Any true death metal sycophant will treasure these odes to the ugly and nefarious aspects of human nature. Bombs of Hades extol the sounds of predecessors like Morbid Angel and Malevolent Creation rather than the latter big studio albums of Revocation, In Flames, and At the Gates. Again, BOH can throw a slight breakdown or lull; but truly this band just pushes forward at a speedy pace, taking no prisoners; simply slaying onlookers.
Serpent’s Redemption’s first song caught me off guard with its slight groove a la Testament, Entombed, and Haunted. However, the second track gets straight to the point with the death metal. The rough and tumble production approaches encompass the gritty but pounding sounds of Bombs of Hades. As the barrage of everyone and their twisted grandma put out “the most brutal album ever”, Bombs of Hades humbly step to the stage and eviscerate all fools. Thanks to Blood Harvest for putting these guys out there on vinyl.
